Hubble's Final Release Over Earth (2009) Caption Hubble drifts over Earth after its release on May 19, 2009 by the crew of the Space Shuttle Atlantis. The crew had performed all planned tasks over the course of five spacewalks, making the Servicing Mission 4 (SM4), the fifth astronaut visit to the Hubble Space Telescope, an unqualified success. The great Andromeda galaxy. At 2.4 million light years, its the closest galaxy to ours. Occupies an area in the sky 6 times the size of the full moon. Can see 2 satellite galaxies as well.

A blow dryer project this time :) I took a macro shot because the whole project turned out a little bit of a mess.

While I was away on a weeks holiday to Portugal, I decided to take a chance on seeing where the Milky Way and the Moon would be showing in relation to my location. To my surprise, the Moon was always below the horizon when the Milky Way was up. This was my first proper time photographing the Milky Way and I was seriously lucky to have really good conditions to capture it in. Would make a good laptop background :)
